Vigyan Ashram (Science Hermitage) Center

The Vigyan Ashram (Science Hermitage) was set up in 1983 in a drought-prone rural setting at Pabal village, about 60 Kms. north-east of Pune.  Its thrust area is application of science & technology for rural development.  It covers a population of about 10,000. This centre provides opportunities to  rural youth, mostly school drop-outs, to learn scientific methods

and  acquaint themselves with  simple  scientific instruments for use in their day-to-day occupations. Over the years, the Ashram has been endeavoring to develop a new work-culture of learning through integration of theory and practice focused on earning. Innovation is encouraged. These school drop-outs develop self-confidence and self-respect. Their  enterprise considerably improves overall  family earnings.
