Science and Technology for Rural Integrated Development and
Education (STRIDE) |

Project STRIDE was started on 30th
January, 2003 the aim of STRIDE is to contribute to the
process of sustainable development by enabling the rural
community to become the leading partner in promoting
scientific transfer and use of technology for socio-economic
transformation, particularly for improving the quality of the
rural population with special focus on the empowering of the
weaker sections, especially women. |

STRIDE has
initially planned research and development work in the
following areas |
-
Bio-resources : Bio-diversity programmes involving tissue –
culture for farm – cultivation.

Solar
and wind energy applications for farm produce.
-
Agro
technology for value – addition to farm produce.
-
Water –
resources, water-conservation and water-use (especially
potable water)
-
Instruction in Science and Technology

STRIDE
will carry out its field activities through the support of
CEDRW, the Rural Institute project and the B.D. Tilak
Community Centre located at Shivapur. All these are
functioning to meet the goals of EFA & HFA. STRIDE will also
establish working contacts with the National Chemical
Laboratory, Maharashtra Association for Cultivation of
Science and other such local and national organizations. |
