This study
was promoted by J.P. Naik who was Member Secretary of the
Indian Council for Social Science Research. He helped set up a
joint panel of ICSSR and Indian Council for Medical Research
for analyzing India’s health-problems and suggesting a
policy-framework for organizing solutions. He invested in the
deliberations of this panel his personal experience of
village-level health-work and commissioned several
micro-studies for the use of the panel. He also wrote the
final report. This report has given some basis for the
health-policies adopted since 1983. The report has been
published by the Indian Institute of Education. |
